How we select our awardees

Every year, the Mogren Foundation awards prizes in medicine and classical music. The prize recipients are selected by the Mogren Foundation's Board based on recommendations from two expert nomination committees. Here you can read more about the committees' members.

Mogren Medicine Prize

Karin Pettersson

Chair of the Nomination Committee for the Mogren Medicine Prize. Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Senior Consultant in maternity care at BB Stockholm. Karin Pettersson was awarded the Mogren Prize in Medicine in 2021.

Caroline Nilsson

Senior Consultant at Sachsska Children's and Youth Hospital in Stockholm and Associate Professor at Karolinska Institutet. Specialises in paediatric and adolescent allergology, with a particular focus on severe food allergies. Caroline Nilsson was awarded the Mogren Prize in Medicine in 2025.

Ola Björgell

Associate Professor and Senior Consultant in diagnostic radiology at Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, specialising in ultrasound examinations. Ola Björgell was awarded the Mogren Prize in Medicine in 2022.

Valdemar Erling

Haematologist and Senior Consultant at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg. Valdemar Erling was awarded the Mogren Prize in Medicine in 2019.

Anders Castor

Senior Consultant in paediatric oncology and clinical ethics at Skåne University Hospital. Anders Castor was awarded the Mogren Prize in Medicine in 2018.

Mogren Music Prize

Tobias Theorell

Chair of the Nomination Committee for the Mogren Music Prize. An acclaimed director with a long career in theatre and opera in Sweden and abroad. Previously Artistic Director at Folkoperan, and Opera Director at the Royal Swedish Opera since 2025.

Elin Rombo

Swedish Court Singer since 2013 and soprano at the Royal Swedish Opera. Recipient of, among others, Litteris et Artibus and the Svenska Dagbladet Opera Prize. Host of Sommar i P1 2026.

Tobias Ringborg

Conductor and member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, among other things awarded the Herbert Blomstedt Prize.

Magnus Svensson

Magnus Svensson
Pianist and one of Scandinavia's leading accompanists. Artistic Director of the Lied series at Konserthuset Stockholm and Music Editor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
